Pohatu Penguin Tour Fly across Banks Peninsular to the Akaroa Pohatu Penguin colony - the largest Little Penguin colony on mainland New Zealand. There are 1063 breeding pairs throughout the 91 hectares of penguin habitat with birds traveling across land up to 600 metres. The Helps Family live in the middle of the colony and have been actively protecting the penguins on their property for over 2 decades. They offer you the opportunity to visit the colony for a descriptive talk and to watch a monitoring program in action. Photography is allowed but strictly no flash is to be used when photographing penguins.
