Dimrill Dale (Mt Owen)Mount Owen was the location in which represented Dimrill Dale and Moria in Peter Jackson's first of The Lord of the Rings film trilogy, The Fellowship of the Ring. When the characters led by Aragorn leave Moria they emerge onto a rocky plateau. Mt Owen at 6150 feet above sea level it is the highest point in Kahurangi National Park. As the water flows over these limestone rocks, it slowly dissolves them. Cracks and other natural lines of weakness grow larger.
